Forest Facts

Did you know?

If the forest was left intact and harvested for its many nuts, fruits, medicinal plants, latex, and timber it would have a much more significant economic value than if they were to cut it down to be used for strictly timber or cattle pasture:

Projected Economic Value of One Hectare in the Peruvian Amazon:

  • $6,820 per year if intact forest is sustainably harvested for fruits, latex, and timber.
  • $1,000 per year if clear-cut for commercial timber
    (not sustainably harvested)
  • $148 per year if used as cattle pasture.

"To dream anything that you want to dream. That’s the beauty of the human mind. To do anything you want to do that is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits. That is the courage to succeed."

"Away, Away from
Men and Towns
To the wild wood and
The downs-
To the silent wilderness
Where the soul
Need not repress
Its music"
-Percy Bysshe Shelley
